VintageCardPrices.com was founded by Robert Binder who has been a vintage card collector since the age of 10.
Robert recently returned to the hobby a few years ago and became very frustrated and confused with price guides
and monthly SMR's for their inaccuracies. Having successfully established large member-based web sites in the
past with his business partner Carlos Cespedes, he decided to move forward with a web site that would provide
the card collecting industry with the most accurate baseball card price guide based on prices realized in auctions.
Carlos has been in the web site development business since 1998 who started off as an independent Flash designer and
has worked for prominent web development firms in Los Angeles. He has produced many web sites serving as
and the site producer who manages the development team and overall development of projects.
VintageCardPrices.com is the culmination of a visionary card collector and an accomplished web producer, making them
the perfect forumula to create the card collecting industry's baseball card price guide solution.
Our eBay Certified Application posts prices for cards that have been graded by only the four big grading companies,
PSA, SGC, GAI and Beckett. Reasons being that they have outstanding reputations and are the most trusted in the industry. In
the case of PSA, we do not accept cards with qualifiers. On each card profile page, there is a grid of each
grade. Within each grade box, the values represent the latest sale price of that card in that grade. We only use real
prices and do not set a price estimator formula so if there are no recorded sales, a "N/A" will show in that box. We
acquire data by tracking eBay and major auction houses around-the-clock and the results post to our system within 15 minutes
of the end of the auction. Only successfully closed auctions will post to our system. We do not allow auctions that
have not met their reserver or that have 0 bids. Major auction houses' prices are added to the system with in 24 hours
of the auction ending and include the extra buyer percentage. We verify every listing by visually seeing the complete
card in its holder for every auction. We do not have a search engine that looks for the information you are requesting
because it would give false data because of so many misleading auction titles and mistakes by the listing seller and
grading companies. We take into account people with low feedback and potential false sellers and do not include them
in our data.
Rules for acceptance are the cards have to be a single graded card lot sold in a auction format, reserves must be met
and there has to be at least one bid. "Buy it Now" eBay auctions are included with the exception of eBay Store BIN listings.
This means that we have staff checking every auction to verify that the information is correct that feeds the data to our
system for you to use.
We have over 2,080 sets and more than 164,910 cards in our system as of 4/28/08. Every card
has it's own individual profile page with information about the card. If there are any auctions running for a card,
this page will display the "View Pending Auctions Now" and "View Buy-It-Now Listings" buttons. We have included sets of cards that
do not get graded to make the player card search as complete as possible. The player search will give you a list of
every card produced for that particular player including all variations. We have posted over 42,000 quality images of
cards as of 4/28/08. Our goal is to eventually have an image for every card in our database. This is an enormous task and we
have literally spent thousands of hours creating these set lists and scans for the site.
