- Set Description:
- After World War II, the Japanese issued baseball cards was significantly curtailed, with only a handful of candy/caramel and gum sets issued in the early to mid-1950’s to commemorate the 1953 Major League tours of Japan. Among the primary manufacturers were Kobai Caramels, Seiko Gum, Asayama Fusan Gum, Cisco Caramels, LiLi Gum and the Yamakatsu Company. Since the few sets from this time period known to exist were often printed on extremely thin paper and distributed only regionally, few of the cards managed to survive making it an nearly impossible task to assemble related checklists. For that reason, nearly no Japanese set from the early 1950’s has been fully cataloged with one of a kind cards popping up every now and then.
